My friend gave this book to me. This book pretty thin so I can finish it in two days. I prefer this book than Cantik Itu Luka (Beauty is Wound) Lelaki Harimau already translate into english with title Man Tiger. This book was nominates as Man Booker Prize.
I like the idea of the book that tell the story tiger inside the human. I remember my Mom told me the myth about man tiger. I bet every person who grown up in West Java must be ever heard about this myth too. The story of Lelaki Harimau based on myth about sacret tiger spirit. Based on legend, The Great King Siliwangi (King of the Pajajaran -Hindu Sunda Kingdom reign from 1482-1521) refused to convert to Islam. He and his faithful follower retreat to Mount Salak. He and the his follower disappeared and turn into spirit of sacret tiger (black and white leopard). People in West Java still believe that the sacret tiger still wandering around until now. Sometimes the tiger visit to people house. If you're not doing something bad, the tiger won't attact you.
Once My grand-aunt saw a shadow of tiger tail passing the house and the dissapare into thin air. She said it was the King Siliwangi's follower. Well, I never saw man tiger or spirit tiger before but some people, mostly old generation, claimed they saw it.
This book tell a story about young man named Margio who claimed that there's a tiger inside him. And the tiger that killed Anwar Sadat. But the book not only tell how the tiger kill the old man, but this more revealed about Margio's life and people around him.
